Discover Florida this Summer

31 days until summer break is here. Then what will you do?  Personally , I can't wait  to explore this beautiful sunshine state.  I love Florida there are so many different places to see.  I'm sure you all feel that way about your home states.  If you are around Florida this summer here are some places we suggest for an adventure or vacation.

Summer fun in Florida
1.  St.Augustine- I could tell you a thousand different things to do in this historic city and you could still find more.  There is never a dull moment exploring St.Augustine.  A few of our favorites the St.Augustine Lighthouse, the Alligator Farm, Castillo De San Marcos National Monument, the splash park at the pier, Fort Mantanzas  and so many more great places.  If you are looking for some great breakfast we highly recommend Cousteau's where you can get waffles and milkshakes.  Seriously yummy!! If you are looking for fabulous seafood our top pick would be Osteen's they have some of the best shrimp around.  Looking to stay the night we love the Casablanca Inn on the Bay.

2.  The Space Coast- has so much to see and do. Our favorite place to stay is a little hidden gem called  Tuckaway Shores which is just AWESOME for a family visit.  Central to all sorts of family fun attractions and located right on the beach its just a perfect place to relax and enjoy the summer break.  Be sure and grab a bottle of your favorite Florida wine from East Coast Winery to enjoy as you chill on your patio or balcony.  Take the kids and learn all about our space adventures at Kennedy Space Center .  Another fun place for the family is the Brevard Zoo where you can kayak through the animal exhibits (AWESOME !) they also have rhino encounters and so much more to keep everyone excited.  Don't forget to hit the beach and the surf.  The Space Coast is known for some fantastic surfing.  Looking for a tasty beach breakfast we suggest Sand on the Beach in Melbourne and the Ocean Omelet.

3.  Destin - The Emerald Coast is one of this Florida girl's favorite hideaways.  So much so I'm headed back for a week this summer and CAN NOT WAIT .  Water Park lovers be sure and hit up Big Kahuna's which is a day well spent.  My kids young and old both love a great water park and Big Kahuna's got a thumbs up from everyone here.  Silly touristy things to do stop by the double decker bus full of mannequins and grab a bite to eat at a local favorite McGuires Irish Pub. If you get the chance visit Crab Island and enjoy at least one day with your toes in the sand enjoying that Emerald water. We like Henderson Beach State Park.

4.  Key West-  You don't want to miss this Florida favorite spend some time in the Keys.  Home to Bahaia Honda State Park which is a great place for photos, relaxing and even Florida camping.  The Keys have that island vibe and its a great area to spend a vacation.  Fort Zachary Taylor was a family favorite and budget friendly. The Dry Tortugas are on my Florida bucket but not in the budget my last trip.

5.  Florida Springs - there are so many Florida Springs there is no way I could ever name them all. These are some of this families favorite swimming holes. Juniper Springs has a dock to dive off of , beautiful water, and even an old water wheel you'll be sure and want to bring your camera for a few great shots. Fanning Springs is a great place to spend the day picnicking and cooling off.  Grab a tube and hit the Ichetucknee.  A new favorite is Homossassa Springs off of Crystal River and Three Sisters Springs where you'll not only find a great place to cool off but you can swim with manatees.  It's a very cool experience and although manatee season is in the cooler months we Love this part of Florida !
