The white powdery sand and the beautiful green waters of the Gulf of Mexico definitely did not disappoint. This is my kind of beach. Boardwalks provide beach access for swimming, fishing and sunbathing. The kids loved the waves coming in boogie boards in hand I think they'd have jumped waves all day LONG and then some more.. We saw a few dolphins and a big fish swam right in between us (um scary and yet kind of cool).
There was not a shell on the beach which personally my feet are thankful for. I so prefer the white powdered sand to crushed seashell. Head down the nature trail for a look at the beautiful sand dune ecosystem. There is also a playground here for children to enjoy (it does get HOT).
Henderson Beach State Park is also home to a lovely camping area. 60 sites have electrical hook ups, there are no sewer hook ups but a dump station is on the premises. Campsites are $30 per night.
Henderson Beach State Park was a great outing for our family. We would definitely visit this beautiful beach and park again. Admission into the park was $6.00 per car of up to 8 people. The park is located at 17000 Emerald Coast Parkway Destin, Florida.
There are nice bathrooms and dressing areas at the front of the boardwalk leading down to the beach. There are also showers so you can rinse off on your way out. Pets are permitted at the campground, nature trail and in parking lots, but not on the beach. We give this park a high 5 for family fun!
