New Kid Friendly Spanish CD Review and Tips for Second Language Success! {Giveaway}

One thing I've learned in the classroom is that children love learning through music.  Music inspires them to move, has catchy tunes and is repetitive.  It is a great teaching tool for younger children.  Today we're sharing a NEW Kids Friendly Spanish CD from Whistlefritz.  I couldn't wait to add this to my playlist and share it with my son.

Available September 9, 2014 on CD from Whistlefritz
Just In Time For National Hispanic Heritage Month

What did we think?  Our feet were tapping, hands were clapping and middles were moving.  This CD is catchy and doesn't take long to have your body wiggling to the tunes.  The CD teaches through familiar children favorites such as En El Rancho De MacDonald "Old MacDonald had a Farm". Our favorites from the playlist are Uno, Dos Y, Tres (One, Two and Three) and En El Racho De MacDonald (Old Macdonald) . My son loved Old MacDonald it did not take him long to figure out he was singing EIEIO and learning new words.  We give this new CD from Whistefritz a thumbs up

 I think the CD  is a great way to incorporate Hispanic Heritage into your preschool classroom or at home with your preschool children.  I used it with my son who is five years old and he really liked dancing and singing along with me.  I can't wait to use it  in the classroom come fall.    If you don't know a word of Spanish do not worry. The CD includes lyrics in English so you'll be able to translate .

You can visit the Whistlefritz website for a preview of some of the CD's tracks.

"Learning a second language in early childhood offers a lifetime of benefits for a child. Research shows that learning a second language at an early age has positive effects on a child's intellectual growth and cognitive development.  It sharpens a child's overall literacy sills and helps the child develop a greater sensitivity to language, a better ear for listening, and a stronger appreciation for other cultures. " by Whistelfrtiz.   Here are six tips to ensure that second language learning is a success for kids.

6 TIPS For Ensuring Second Language Success for Kids

  1. Expose children to a second language early when the brain is most receptive to language development.
  2. Skip the Translation!
  3. Teach Children a second language using "immersion."
  4. Expose children to a second language as spoken by native speakers.
  5. Repetition is the key to language learning!
  6. Offer an immersion program that is compelling and kid friendly.
