Trista Sutter's book Happily Ever After

I'm so excited to tell you we're sharing Trista Sutter's book Happily Ever after right here at the Zoo.  You all know I'm a big Bachelor / Bachelorette fan.  I was cheering Ryan on during Bachelorette. I love hearing how well this couple is doing .   When I heard about Trista's new book I knew I would have to read it.  Trista was kind enough to send me a copy of her book for review.  I began it tonight so I'll have my thoughts for you soon.

The Life-Changing Power of a Grateful Heart: By Trista Sutter
"The book isn't just about my life and the highs and lows that I have personally experienced, but stories of others...some are strangers...who can inspire people to live a happier life through gratitude. It's also chalk full of research so that people don't just have to believe me...science backs it up! "

Twenty-six million viewers watched ABC’s first Bachelorette get swept away in a fairytale romance—and many of them wished they could be as lucky as Trista (Rehn) Sutter. Courted by a handsome, poetry-writing firefighter in some of the world’s most luxurious destinations, this hardworking girl from South Florida never imagined her dreams would come true .

On December 6, 2013, Trista and Ryan will celebrate their ten-year anniversary. One of the rare reality TV couples to find lasting love, they now have two children, a dog, and a fulfilling family life that still has Trista thanking her lucky stars.

In Happily Ever After, Trista shares her thoughts on the importance of living a thankful life, chronicling her personal journey and integrating stories from friends as well as advice from experts.

Trista’s “Happily Ever Actions” motivate us to
elevate gratitude from concept to conscious choice by making mindful moves like:

• Tweeting about one thing you’re thankful for at the end of every day
• Writing positive thoughts on a slip of paper—and keeping it in your wallet or purse as a reminder
• Making the most of your “me time”
• Creating a list of all the reasons you love and appreciate your partner/friend/family member and sending it to them
• Inventing reasons to gather and celebrate, or throwing a party for no reason at all

Trista proves that, despite the messiness of life—fertility struggles, complicated pregnancies, endless to-do lists, community commitments—with active gratitude, everyone has the ability to reduce stress, laugh more, and experience each day to its fullest.
Trista Sutter was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Indiana University, she earned a Master’s in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami and worked as a pediatric physical therapist at Miami Children’s Hospital. In 2002, she was runner-up on the first season of ABC’s The Bachelor, and went on to be the first Bachelorette. Since the show, she has appeared on Dancing with the Stars and the Travel Channel, and has written for Redbook, E! Online, Parade.com, and others. Currently a stay-at-home-and-work mom, she lives near Vail, Colorado with her family.

thankful for all of them...big and small.”
—Ethan Zohn, 2002 winner of Survivor

“Happily Ever After is profound, passionate and practical. These stories of gratitude will
move, inspire and touch you—you will not be able to live your life the same way.”

of that for this uplifting, full-of-healthy-tidbits book about the importance and fun of
having an optimistic view of the world. Thanks, Trista!”
—Kimberly Williams-Paisley, actress

I had the wonderful opportunity to ask Trista a couple of questions. I am such a fan of hers I was beyond excited. Here are my questions and Trista's answers.

What is your best tip for keeping a happy marriage after ten years?

Making sure that you relationship sits at the top of your totem pole. It needs just as much, if not more attention than your kids and your job, in order to set the foundation for a happy home life, so make it a priority. Schedule date nights. Get away on couples vacations, or just make it a point to veg on the couch together after getting the kids to bed and finishing up your work.

I'm also a Florida girl. I would love to know some of your favorite places in Florida.

Ahhhh Florida. I actually am not originally from Florida, but found myself there for grad school at UM. LOVED my 7 years there! Some of my favorite places in Florida…now that I have kids, Disneyworld!!! Living in South Florida, I spent a lot of time in Coconut Grove and on South Beach. If only I had plans to get back there sometime soon!

Thanks so much Trista!
