Lovers Key #TuesdaysTravels

Lovers Key State Park

8700 Estero Boulevard
Fort Myers, Florida 33931

Lovers Key Beach is accessible by boardwalk or tram . I recommend the tram it runs every few minutes and is definitely worth the wait.   The beach area is popular for swimming, shelling, sun bathing and picnicking.  I found a couple of really nice sized full shells here. Lovers Key is open 365 days a year from 8am to sunset.  The cost to get into the park is $8 per vehicle of 2-8 passengers.

There is also a boat ramp where boaters can put in . There are several great spots for fishing. My fisherman boys tell me that this is a great place to use cast nets.  Cast netting for mullet is a popular bay side activity. Trout, Red fish, Tarpon and Snook are also caught seasonally.  Wildlife is abundant around Lover's Key so stay on the look out . There's no telling what you'll see.  We saw a ton of Sting Rays on this visit.  They were neat but I'd prefer not to run into critters when I'm swimming.

Be on the look out for wildlife there is no telling what you'll see.
There is a small concession area down on the beach (way to high priced but if your about to starve or thirst to death you'll appreciate it).  You can also rent paddle boards, kayaks and canoes.  Lovers Key even has something for geocachers. If you are a gecoaching fan definitely take a look before you visit. There are 7 caches to be found.  Hiking, biking, shelling , swimming there are lots of activities for you here.
