A Shade of Vampire by Bella Forrest Book Review

A Shade of VampireA Shade of Vampire by Bella Forrest
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bella Forrest has written a young adult paranormal romance that has even this old Mom talking about it. Sofia never realized that a walk down the beach one evening would change her life forever. It is the night of her 17th Birthday when Sofia is captured by a vampire named Lucas and taken to a remote "vampire" island. She is then manhandled by this Lucas and rather reluctantly given to his brother Derek the Prince of Vampires.

This Prince is not your typical bad boy vampire. You'll find yourself having a soft spot for this vamp pretty quickly. Derek is known in his coven as legendary. He has created this safe haven for them, kept them safe from hunters and is quite old. I'm quite intrigued to see where the next story goes. Derek has such a soft spot for humanity and isn't all rough around the edges like some vamps. You get a true since that he really does love Sofia.

The story is told in alternating view points between Sofia and Derek. I liked the alternating viewpoints in this one. Derek and Sofia just seem to fit together. Sofia is not your timid victim. She has spoken her mind every step of the way. She's one smart cookie and we can't wait to see where that leads us in the future.  Sofia is a very strong young lady, a great character when taken she does not just fall a part or give in she stays strong.

A Shade of Vampire stays very true to its Young Adult roots. I like that it is very "clean" no sex, no bad language.  A great read for the young adult paranormal lover and us old young adult loving moms!
