The Very Busy Spider Activities + Happy Birthday Eric Carle Linky

Happy Birthday Eric Carle!

We've bee reading The Very Busy Spider lately.  Eric Carle is one of my favorite children's book authors.  I thought it would be fun to to some bug spider activities to go along with the book.  The funny thing is C is scared of bugs. I have no idea what has makes this usually fearless boy afraid of critters but he seems to be.  It can be downright funny sometimes.

Activity 1- Bug Hunting

With that in mind I thought we'd face his fears head on with a BUG HUNT in the park.  We grabbed some plastic bugs from the party section of Walmart and some platic cups and headed to our local park.

I scattered bugs all over the play ground , handed out cups to the kids at the park and let them hunt.

Then we played at the park for a bit and had a buggy snack of chocolate pudding, crushed Oreos and gummy bugs.

Activity 2 - Glitter Spider Webs

I laid black construction paper in a plastic container, we squirted glue around in a circle (web) shape and then C grabbed the silver glitter.
