With hot days here we spend most of our afternoons in the pool. When you think of swimming and a pool you may not think of a workout. Maybe you should. NO other workout burns calories and increases your metabolism like swimming.
Pool workouts can burn more calories in the water than many of the same exercises on land. An easy swim burns around 500 calories an hour. Swimming is kind to your body, and not so hard on your joints as other exercises. Water can be used as a rehabilitative tool . There are plenty of benefits to this exercise.
Here are some suggestions to get exercise in the pool.
1. kick ~ grab a hold of the side of the pool and kick kick kick as I tell my three year old
2. Swimming laps
3. Pool jogging
4. Intervals of swimming as fast as you can & then freestyle
